Last summer was really hard on lawns in this area. Many of them not only went dormant during the drought, but some parts of them died and then sprouted crabgrass. So, by the end of the season, you had a pretty sorry looking lawn.

Topping Arizona ash trees won't solve rotting, but will cause new problems
Dear Neil: I have three 35-year-old Arizona ash trees. Some of their heavier branches are rotting, and one has fallen. A tree trimmer has suggested that I let him top the trees to give them more life. I hate to do that, because these trees have been with me so long. Is that a good plan, and will it extend their life span?
